Personally I'd stay away from the wax based coatings and use an oil-like product , eg Crown or Rustcheck

It gets into the cracks and penetrates/displaces water.

I had VWs warranty, and an aftermarket Zeibart coating. The seams under the door rusted twice in 3 years.

First time the dealer touched it up as a goodwill gesture. Second time neither covered it.

- read your warranty. You'll see seams and spot welds are not covered. Not covered from outside in.

So if a panel rusts from the inside out, no where near a seam or spot weld, you are covered. Thats never going to happen.

A product like Crown or Rustcheck - if applied properly - will get into the seams. Leading edge of hood, cab corners, tailgate, and box above rear wheels. Won't dry out and trap moisture like Zeibart.

Last car I used a product, I had used Crown 4 times over it's 10 year life. Had to trace a wire in the trunk. Pulled out the trunk liner and everything was well coated with the product. Bit of a messy job tracing the wire, but was pleased to see the panel was so well protected.

Just my experience

Ditto, I believe in the oil, seeps into those checks n crevices, disperses moisture

After reading this thread makes me glad to live in the south. My 2002 still looks great underneath.
