I'll be honest, I genuinely didn't customize my truck to get attention from other people. I did it to make myself happy. Funny thing is the biggest kick (besides the continual love-struck staring at my truck that i do) has been getting comments from people as I drive or catching people looking over my truck (in parking lots, at stop lights, etc).

I have a few stories of people making comments but the one that sticks in my mind -- I was driving on the I-90 in NY. Just in chill mode not in a great rush listening the to some Texas radio stations on Tune In Radio. Another older-model pickup pulls up behind me then goes to pass me. Having that spidey-sense moment I get the feeling someone is looking at "me". I turn to my left and see an older guy (think uncle Sy from Duck Dynasty) looking at my truck from the passenger seat of the truck passing me. He looks at me and gives a big toothy grin and a big thumbs up. I mouth the word "thanks" and they go on their way.

I don't know why but getting the appreciation of a much older generation gave me a good feeling more so than the appreciation i received today from a group of three 20-somethings riding past me at an intersection. My window was open and I head one of them say "hey what do you think of that truck?" and another replied "man that's a nice one" while the third rode in front of my grill and gave me a smile and big thumbs up.

I'm starting to think I am an attention whor-. :-)

I get quite a few compliments on the Sierra. It's an Elevation Edition, all blacked out from the factory....not as expensive as people think.....I try to explain it's just a work truck with no special options....heck, not even a CD Player !

i regularly got into conversations at red lights with people asking about my other truck (1989 c1500 stepside). always lots of looks and thumbs up. i had notes left on that truck twice with phone numbers and a message stating 'please call if you ever want to sell!' ha! ha!

i got my 2014 silverado Z71 LTZ in june - it was pretty much bone stock.... didn't turn one head - ha! ha! good thing a lift was the first thing i did! i definitely get looks and nods now! ha! ha!

i guess it feels good getting acknowledgement from others that they like what you've done/are doing to your truck. i know if i see a truck i like i'll always either nod/give thumbs up/mouth "nice truck!" to the driver

Well, we are getting regular offers to buy my husbands 66 S-20. Right now it is sitting next to my 16 in the driveway. When I first got my 2015 1500 I got lots of comments about how did my husband liked his new truck. I haven't driven my 2500 long enough to get any comments as yet, but I have gotten a few looks like - Whaaat, who is driven that truck.

I can't even go for a ride..

stare downs.

Not sure, but my 96 seems to come across as a challenge to some.

I'll let you play to your 107mph limiter and then go by.

silly kids. Getting too old for this.

it may be my 3 digit veteran plate. that is some kinda superhero apparently..looking like a state trooper more than a veteran.

not accustomed to that in a pickup. I have had lots of unique rides, trucks have always been just trucks to me.

Past the 130 inch wheelbase. You will not get away. Beaten, dented.. failing or beautiful.

It gets looks.

my dad has been trucking for 40 years. owner operator. None have been similar to anything out there.

they demand attention. I did not expect that from pickups.

my subaru is a 1 in 1500 engine, now a one in none. 10 gear dual range with a manual lever, peugeot 505 wheels.

loud enough to echo a city block with an 80s rally buzzing bee...

rpm limit to 6500rpm, because 8000 would knock somebody over...shooting flames on a throttle down.

...and people are just catching on after it turns 30 years old. I have been approached several times in the past weeks with questions or disbelief.. after years of people being evil to the slow tin can...and even me for driving it.

The truck is a vibe with no words.

my locale is primitive.. trucks just seem to be a challenge to take on for some odd reason.
