2015 Silverado jumpseat/console switch

Hello All,

New to the forum and wanted to share what I have done to my truck. I got a 2015 Silverado 1500 LT about 6 months ago. It came with jump seat in the front. I really like the console for the function and for me its a looks thing as well.

Now the jump seat has electric uses including the USB connection to the mylink, the sd card, the aux in and 2 12v plug ins. It attaches to the body with 4 15mm bolts.

I ordered a console set up from cheapestgmparts.com. They did send me a CYA email telling me this would not fit my truck and there would be a restock fee if I sent it back. Once I got it, it took me a little while to figure out what to do. Pulling out the jump seat is very simple. You can even do that without taking out the front seats, you just slide them all the way forward and all the way back and you can access the bolts.

The tricky part is the wiring. You will need to unbolt the passenger front seat to access the wiring plug. I just tilted my seat out of the way rather than play with the plug that controls the airbags. There are 2, a multi wire one for power etc. and one is clearly a computer plug. The plug from the jump seat and the plug from the console are different, but I think I found the best solution. Don't cut out the female plug under the seat. I cut the male plug off the jump seat along with about a foot of wire. This does mean the jump seat is now trash but I was OK with that. I cut the new plug off the console and spliced all the wires together This was easy because the wires are all the same colors. There was one extra from the console harness. The only really tricky part was the computer wire as that is 4 really tiny wires. Then I just plugged them back into the female outlets.

From the dash, take out the ash tray and unplug the 110 outlet and the 12v outlet. These plug directly to the console. Move the console into place, bolt it in, add the trim pieces and it is good to go. All the electric in the console works with 2 exceptions. Up by the dash is the 110 which works, 2 12v outlets and a spot with 3 USB plugs. I assume these are for power only and do not connect directly to the mylink. 1 of the 12v and those extra USBs WILL NOT WORK. This is the major difference in the wiring harness. As I do not need those plugs, I am OK with this because I got my console.

Sorry I did not take pix as I went. Hope this helps someone with a similar desire.

Welcome to this forum! If you scroll to page 3 you will find hundreds of responses to Centre console switch. This is a popular modification, I personally get much more use out of the underseat storage container and armrest storage combination offered by the jumpseat configuration. It is also useful for me to have the capability to carry an extra passenger.
