Windshield Trim

I have a 2003 Silverado ext cab that has a constant tapping noise around the windshield area, specially in the overhead area.

 

This starts at about 50mph and just keeps getting louder.

 

I've been to the dealer twice, but all that happened was a mysterious scratch down the side of the truck. Noise is still there.

 

Any help??

back when the 99s came out it was due to bug deflectors (do you have one???) If so go around the outside trim (rubber flap) pull it up slightly and put small amounts of 3m double sided tape in there. I know that fixed my problem. However i did get a new windshield yesterday and i noticed the noise isnt there (no tape anymore since they removed it)

Exactly right, fix the moldind around the windshield. That noise drove me nuts for 2 weeks. I finally read an article about it on this site. What I did to check this out was put electrical tape around the molding. and sure enough the noise disappeared.

I hear you. My 03 is doing the same thing. Guess I'll have to get some of the 3m tape and fix it cuz it's really getting on my nerves.

 

BTW mine starts at about 60MPH+..... guess every one is different.

You are saying that the weatherstripping lifts from the glass at speed? Hmmm, maybe a thin bead of black rtv, it sticks to clean glass, how we mount side view mirrors. Tapping sounds like the cloud monster I'll bet!
