2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.3l (Muffler)

I just recently put a flowmaster super 40 on my 2015 chevy silverado 1500 4.3l and also deleted the catalytic converter because i thought it would sound louder but i am not really happy with the sound i expected louder, what can i do to make it sound louder or what muffler should i get? please help and thanks in advance.

When you say catalytic converter do you mean the resonator above the rear axle or the 3rd cat because it's 3 cats (2 monitored, 3rd not) and removing the front 2 would turn on the engine light. The resonator is essentially a second muffler.

 

I have a single in/dual out Super 44 muffler on mine. Had the stock muffler and everything behind it removed and didn't touch anything in front of the stock muffler so I kept the 3 cats and deleted the resonator and flapper valve. It's plenty loud so if you still have the resonator then remove it.

SSGuy85 thanks for answering but i removed one of the catalytic converters in the front i still have the resonator behind the muffler. Now i am scared to remove the resonator because i already removed one of the cats. will this effect my vehicle in any way? Also is it legal in the usa to remove one of the cats?

That 3rd cat is just to make them all Cali legal so if you're not in Cali then you can remove the 3rd cat. Just don't touch the 2 that are monitored.

 

The resonator, like I said, is basically just a second muffler so it's ok to remove that no matter where you live as long as you at least have that main muffler which is the Super 40 in your case.

 

If I were you I would just have someone cut the whole tailpipe out and put up a new one. The tailpipe will just be the pipe going from the back of the muffler to the tip. Or to be a tad cheaper you can get them to just cut out the resonator and replace it with a piece of pipe.

honestly i am sorry i am new to the whole exhaust system thing, When the guy removed the cat infront of the muffler which was next to a flexible looking pipe he said it might void my warranty, you think it would be fine if i remove the resonator also even though i already removed one of the cats?

this link is exactly what the part looked like that he removed.. im not 100% sure maybe i screwed up and removed something i wasnt supposed to?

For it to void the warranty GM would have to proof that the exhaust modification is what caused the problem. You already replaced the muffler so you're not doing any worse if you remove the resonator. Just remove the resonator and you'll be fine.
