They spin them and they may test fire... but beyond that the first real run is when they start it at the end of the line. So no... your new engines out of the plant are not broken in.

Typical advice for a new vehicle break in is as follows:

 

1. Vary the engine speed a lot, do not drive with the cruise control engaged for long periods (preferably not at all).

 

2. Avoid revving up the engine too high during the break in period.

 

3. Do not tow anything with the truck for at least first 1000 miles.

 

4. Check the engine and transmission oil levels, as well as engine coolant levels often during the break in period.

 

And based on some threads in this forum, I would also initially check the differential oil level as well. Factory fill may not be up to required capacity for various reasons.
