Wondering if a 6 litre with 4l80E 2wd out of a 2004 2500HD drop right into my 2001 1500HD 2wd that also has the 6 litre.

The 2004 has the complete wiring harness and computer.

Issues i have seen are

1. Speedo not working correctly and or cluster mess ups. A dealer can fix if needed, BUT if trucks came with same tire size and rear, you might all set there

2. The water pump and location is slightly different, you may need the hoses from the '[04.

3. I would replace all the exhaust manifold bolts and put COPPER Never seize on them when re install, I would put copper Never Seize on the plugs too.

I noticed on the 2004 engine that it is drive by wire. My throttle body has cables. Would it just be matter of swapping the throttle body off mine and bolting it the the 2004 intake manifold? Also, will the wiring harness(s) on my 2001 all plug into the 2004 engine? Thanks for your help!

Also if swapping the Transmission you may have to swap over the NS Switch as it could be a single plug on the 04 and two wire on the 01.
