Hi guys,

I am helping the mother in-law with her 09 GMC 2500, Diesel, factory tow package w/integrated brake control.

There is no 12volts at the 7way trailer plug.

I have checked the under hood power center and I have 12v and a good 40amp fuse at the stud one location.

Where else do I need to check??? is there a jumper that's needs connected somewhere???

Thanks in advance for any help, Bob

Well I was able to look at it again last night and there are two things I still don't understand????

first: I did find a red lead marked aftermarket trailer battery positive taped to the harness and hooked it to 12v source and still no power on batt+ terminal of 7 way plug on bumper. So what is this lead for?????

Second: the stud one location on the fuse bloc under the hood is hot 12v all the time so this would not be good for a trailer battery feed because it could drain your start batterys will parked. normal trailer feed is switched only????

The feed at the hitch is live all the time...at least it is on my 2012.

As for that other brake harness wire you hooked up, that's in the event you wanted to add an aftermarket brake controller in place of the OE...it gives juice to the harness under the dash.

There were two or three ring- terminated wires on my truck, one for the aftermarket brake controller, one for the beacon, and I thought there was one for the trailer 12v+? I think there were also two fuses, one for each stud? It's been a while since I needed to know that...
