Level Kit plus 4600s?

So, I have a full set of 4600s that were mistakenly ordered because they were listed as 5100s on the vendor website. Tried to send them back but vendor is unresponsive. I wanted the 5100s to get about 1.5" lift on front end and a smoother ride all around.

So if I cant return them, I can try to sell these, probably take a loss, and buy the 5100s. Or I could just keep them and get a spacer for the front.

Has anyone run a 1.5" or 2" spacer with 4600s? Is there any reason it wouldnt work? Seems like it should still improve the ride over the stock Ranchos.

Also, I am confused about the spacers. Some of them look like U-shaped gizmos with two long bolts. Others are donuts with 3 holes in them. I get the dount one, but what is up with the other? I suppose one is for the top and the other is for the bottom of the strut? Which is better?

Also, for the donut, why would it be worth it to pay $200+ for a super simple piece of aluminum, when the same aluminum block is on ebay for $30? And some of the expensive ones are nylon even. So that blows my mind even more for the price.

Thanks for any help!

If what you say is true that they sent you the incorrect item then you should dispute that charge with your bank/CC/Paypal and buy the 5100's instead.

That is what I would do.

MY buddy just got quoted $2200 for an aluminum part for his boat. Just be glad you did not buy a boat :)

I did. It was a site sponsor vendor even. I dont want to disparage names here, so I figured I would just let that part be. I still dont know how its going to settle out.

Keep pushing. False advertisement is false advertisement and the end-buyer (you, of course) shouldn't be punished. Push for the 5100s with THEM covering shipping both ways since the error was on their behalf. I personally have 5100s at all 4 corners on my '14, front raised with the 5100 level adjustment, and I am satisfied.

What does it say on the receipt .... what was the item bought and paid for? If that is different then it is a slam dunk with any dispute if a vendor is giving you trouble you should give a review IMO. If it is a site vendor personally I would like to know so I dont end up in same boat down the road.

Oh the credit card company was very prompt with the refund. I have attempted to contact the vendor no less than 7 times by phone twice by email and twice by IM. The vendor site listed them as a set of 5100s. The receipt said full set of 5100s. In the details of the part numbers they were 4600 part numbers. My wife ordered them as a fathers day gift so she had no idea. I can understand that this arguement could go both ways as to fault, but I dont even want to do that. All I wanted to do was swap them and go on about my business. If I dont get a reply and resolution by my next statement I will just take my CC refund (which becomes permanent) and go buy them elsewhere.

OR.... I could just keep the unwanted but effectively no-cost 4600s that I have in hand and go buy a level kit. That is what I am trying to figure out if I cant get them swapped.

I feel bad about the situation, but I also kinda dont. I have been busting a$$ trying to make it right, and get no service at all.

Well, that sucks. So I am forever obligated to store some shocks that I dont want because I cant do anything else with them?

Not forever, but at least until dispute is closed and final. After that They would be considered abandoned property. If they send UPS etc to come pick them up and not available though your dispute will fail, it will be on them to arrange return since they were original shipper. Best to ask your bank/CC and double check.

As far as I understand, the 5100's are for a lifted truck and the 4600's are for stock height trucks. The 5100 has a little more dampening. If you kept the stock shocks on with the level, then the 4600's should work fine.

I took off the 4600s and the level kit last friday and had 5100s installed on the front at the 3rd setting. The ride is so much better. The 4600s plus lower spacer had a funny vibration at high speeds and popped like crazy no matter how much I torqued them. I highly recommend getting the 5100s if a small level is all you need.

BTW, I have some 4600s if anyone needs them for a non-leveled truck.
