Column Shift & DVD Screen

My buddy has '02 Suburban and he installed a Pioneer Head Unit w/ the 6.5" Screen.

I noticed that when he 'ejects' screen he has to pull/move shifter out of way of screen...say if hes parked he has to pull it slightly in- like going to shift out of park- for screen to pop up

 

 

Has anyone encountered this similar problem? Was this an install issue or bad planning? Or is it just really tight squeeze?

I don't have the HU but I know it is a problem with many of the flip out screens. It's not your fault or the installers, it's Pioneer's fault for not engineering their HU for the best trucks in the world!!
