Chevy 14 wheel tire

Hey great site..I'm just a kid and this played a huge role in guiding me to buying my 2014 Silverado 1500 LT 5.3V8 4x4.

 

The one thing I don't like about the truck is its wheel/tire size. It has the stock 255/R17 and just feels like I sit terribly low. I've stopped in at a few places and keep being told different advice.

 

My situation is as followed..I run a lot of highway miles on the truck but at same time do a little off roading..mostly beach where I also haul a boat that is about 5000 pounds dry.

 

What is the biggest wheel/tire combo I could add without messing with any lift kits? Could I put 20in wheels with a 275/R20 tire?

275/55-R20 is the factory tire size for the 20" wheel option. You will be fine if you use that tire size. Just a heads up though, all 3 of the factory tire/wheel size options you have thru GM all end up with the same exact tire size height.

Owning and operating a vehicle while seeking advice from others removes you from the "kid" category in my book. You could go up a tire size next time you purchase tires such as 265/70r 17. This will look a little better, but not give you any noticeable increase in height. Installing a 1.5" to 2" leveling kit will give you some height while maintaining ride quality. Continue to research and benefit from the experiences of others. In the meantime, the stock tire size is functional and larger than older versions of the same model of truck!

Depends how much you want to spend really. Stock tires are 31.9 inches. You can squeeze in a 33 inch MT tire which will be taller and wider but run you ~ $400+ per tire. Really you would only be gaining like 0.55 inches of ride height as even though it is 1.1 inch taller overall the axel sits at center of tire so divide by 2.

 

Lot of people here dont like the stock tires but really compared to what they used to put on cars out of the factory they are very good. They are still $2000+ worth of rubber after all.

 

wheel size is irrelevant in your case as can fit exact same tire brand / make on either. one just had more rubber and other more wheel, the price will be very close. works out the same overall tire height. If you do any real amount of off road and beach you want a smaller rim and more rubber so you can let air out for better traction in those cases.
