2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 A/C failed at 20859

I'll start off by saying this is the 2nd Silverado I've had, the first one was a 2014 with nothing but problems and I thought I was done with the problems until I was driving to work and the compressor began to screech and just quit. I have not had one problem with this truck until now. Anyone else have a compressor go out this early?

Not a good sign. I see tons of topics of failed A/C compressors on 2014's but the thought was because of a bad design which was being corrected.

This failure on a 2016 doesn't bode well. Makes me think my 2015 will have issues eventually.

I've seen the posts on the 14s as well, at least it wasn't the engine that failed like my 14. I know a lot of people will say just take it in, it's got a warranty but I shouldn't have to drive a 6 month old truck with no ac in west Texas and waste time now at the dealership. At least I'll have a loaner and they can do the airbag recall

I just put the "corrective AC line bracket" on my '14 a few weeks ago.... no issues at 53k. Keep us posted as to what the root cause of the failure was.

It gets hot and humid here in NC and I still drive with the windows down, even on a 100°+ day. I guess it came from my first truck/vehicle was an '86 Chevy C10 and it didn't even have A/C installed. So the windows, especially the rotating vent windows, were my A/C. The only time I complained about it was when it was raining. Even now I only use the A/C when it's raining, even on the interstate going 75 mph I prefer the windows down.

Y'all are kind of making me wonder about mine now...it blows cold on recirculate but on fresh air it's very mild cooling. I figured it was just having issues with the Southern Louisiana heat/humidity. Is that the same symptoms y'all are having?

When you don't have it on recirculate is it on Auto? On Auto it won't blow full blast most of the time. It might at first for a little bit if it's really hot or really cold, but Auto to me is just a thermostat so you might not feel it.

I'll keep it updated, hopefully I can get it in to the dealer here in the morning.

I don't usually keep it on auto; I'll adjust the temp and hangs the fan speed independently.
