Can the new 2017 capless gas filler be adapted to older trucks?

Were you running a locking gas cap before this truck?

Yes on almost all of our vehicles.... the one exception has a locking gas flap door that has to be opened from inside the passenger compartment.... so basically everything we own has (or in this case HAD) the gas tanks locked up...

For those that have not seen the capless fuel filler, here's a picture. Please excuse the salt on the truck... it's been showing.

I guess I just don't see the need for one where I live. I've never had somebody dump stuff down my filler neck. My wife's 2012 focus has capless and we've never had a single problem. I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist in your area but I see a lot of things on the board people try to preemptively fix and some of it just almost seems like paranoia. I just try to enjoy my truck. I didn't spend $40k so I can fix problems that don't exist
