LED Headlight upgrade

I like the winjet a little better simply because they look like a little better quality over the ANZO. i have heard the anzo can be a real pain to adjust the up and down to position the lights and the quality isn't as nice as you would expect with a $400 + investment. I could be wrong and thats why i value everyones opinion. Thanks for the info on the correct bulb sizes as I did not take that into consideration. Thanks guys!

I heard the same thing about Anzos but I bit the bullet and got a pair about 6 months ago. They are much better light output then my stock lt headlights. They fit great and are just as easy to adjust as the stick head lights which is a pain in the ass lol. I swapped the crappy h7 bulb that came with the anzos stock with the opt 7 LED and it was a great improvement. I wanted a little more then swapped to the morimoto elite hid system and it's perfect in my opinion now!

Was looking at these headlights with an HID kit or the LED. Sounds like the Morimoto kit is the way to go.

What headlights are those and have you installed them?

Hey Alexantics, are the LED's your using super bright and annoying to oncoming traffic. Ive heard the LED can be a bit much as the light is extremely bright and hard to look at....?

I have LED's in my hi beam reflectors and yes, they are blinding to look at for oncoming traffic if I forget to dim them. The reflector doesn't focus the light like a projector does so looking at them is quite bright. It's not that the down range light is extremely bright, actually it's a little disappointing, but still too bright to look at.

On a side note. Does anyone know if HID's do any better at down range light in a reflector than an LED does? The LED does a good job lighting everything up about the same distance as my HID's in the low beam projectors do but not so much down range.

I was using the Opt7 led's. http://www.opt-7.com/fluxbeam-led-headlights/

I got a smoking deal on them form ebay around xmas time. I had them installed in the Anzo projector headlights and i liked them. The Opt7 led fit in the headlight housing with out a need to drill or modify the cap and were plug and play. I liked them so much in fact that I am still using the Opt7 led's as my high beam in the Anzo projectors!

I would not install them in a reflector head light.

When you use HID or bright LED's in a reflector you will blind and annoy oncoming traffic even if you adjust your headlights.

Leds and HID's will not annoy other drivers in a projector with a crisp cut off line and not flooding the light everywhere.

Right now I am running a Morimoto Elite H7 HID system for my low beam and the Opt7 H3 for my high beam. I plan on doing a projector retrofit someday to the new Bi-xenon morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 or the Acme Super version H1 if the Mini D2s will not fit in the Anzos

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
