gusman Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 EDIT: Apparently it's 8" not 7" Hi Everyone, I have some questions about this particular system, as I've been driving my dad's 2015.5 more and more. My current truck is a 2013 Ram Sport, and the 8.4" Uconnect system seems to be miles ahead of the system in the GMC, so I'm thinking maybe I'd ask around to see maybe if it's just missing some settings to make it comparable in user friendliness and functionality. 1. Sat Radio... The screen just shows a sxm logo in a box, not the individual station's logo, or the song logo like my Ram has. Is this a setting or is this just how they are? Seems kind of primitive and pointless to have that logo box be dedicated to a basic SXM logo. 2. Preset Scroll not Scrolling when you reach the end of one "page" via the steering wheel controls. In my ram, when I get to preset 6 and then jump to 7 using the steering wheel controls, the preset menu on the screen will jump to the next row along with the station, but in the GMC it seems to just stay on the first 6, leaving none highlighted when you get to 7 etc.. 3. Favorite song alert? The ram when you hear a song you like on xm, you can tag it, and as long as you're listening to XM, it will ding and give you the option to jump to whatever channel that song or favorite artist is on, (up to 50 I believe). Not sure if this function is built in. 4. Background. Not saying I love the ghosted ram head in my Ram, or the lack of availability to change it, but the GMC just has a black background with some weird lighting effect. Is this changeable? 5. Used to be able to rewind SXM but past few times I've noticed the button does nothing. Did they remove this functionality or something? I ask these questions as I plan on buying the truck from him in a year or 2 when it comes time to move my Ram, so just more curiosity than anything, and searching or owners manual hasn't led to many answers. Absolutely love the GMC, don't get me wrong, but if this is the extent of the MyLink capabilities I have to be honest the Uconnect has it beat 10-1. And I understand these bullet points are nit picky and have no real effect on the truck itself, just posting out of curiosity. Thanks!
Skeld Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 I don't know about the 7", but in the 8" setup, there is TuneSelect available that will alert you to favorite songs, artists etc. on other stations. Is this in a WT?

Dirtbiker Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 The song artist and title should be listed on the upper left. The logo on the right only tells you it is FM or XM or bluetooth or whatever. The shuffle buttons on the steering wheel do not force the dash display to preset 7 or more. Yes it would be nice but it doesn't. It does show the presets in the driver info area by the speedometer though. If you go all the way through your presets back to 1 through 6 it will show up on the screen again. I could "rewind" songs on my 2014 half ton but that function is gone in my 2016 3/4 ton. I only used it about four times in 2.5 years anyway so I don't miss it to much. As far as I have been able to tell you can't change the backgrounds. Hope this helps

Yes, it shows the station and the song. Now I don't know 100% what you mean by the logo, but it does show the artist and the song. I never noticed any logo, but perhaps it does. 2. yes. It will do that on mine. 3. I think that it does do it, but I haven't used it or tried to set it up. 4. Yes, my sales rep told me that can be individualized, but once again I don't know how to do it. The sales rep told us that we can put a family picture up or whatever we want. 5. It does do that also. Also you can pause a song, and then let it finish playing once you have restarted the truck. I did it once, but I am not a techno giant, so once again don't know how to set it up. I'm sure that you dad has the owner's manual that will tell you how to set up all of these. I am willing to bet that your dad is right about my age, and he isn't into all the bells and whistles either and hasn't bothered to set it up like you would.

Yah the screen shows the artist, name etc... but not the station's logo, which my Ram does, or the individual song's album cover which the 2015+ Mopars do (see link) http://lifeispoppin.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/2016-dodge-challenger-scat-pack-shaker-review-uconnect-features-2.jpg. \ It's completely pointless but livens up the screen. Looked in the owners manual, not a whole lot. You're right though, I'm not sure he even knows how to scroll to he next preset page never mind use all of the functions I asked about. I'm 27 I like my gadgets lol Thanks for the replies!
last truck Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 When I bought the 14 I looked to youtube for videos showing how to set that radio up to my liking, and it appears they went backwards with the customization abilities on the 16 radio.

Hmmm not according to my information. My old truck my 2015 LT has the same exact radio as my 2016 LTZ. Now the map system is different. It asks for the city, then, the street, etc.
jj46 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 4. Yes, my sales rep told me that can be individualized, but once again I don't know how to do it. The sales rep told us that we can put a family picture up or whatever we want. Good luck with this. GM loves to advertise how it's "open source" software... let me know when you actually find an SDK. Or for non-software people... just let me know if you ever figure out how to do this. I don't think it can be done by the end user.
Dirtbiker Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 One other note. There is a little arrow above the six station presets. If you push up on this it will show 12 or up to 18 presets on the screen. You do lose the space for song title though if you do this.

Dirtbiker Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 That isn't in my 2016 and it also wasn't in my 2014 GMC. I believe it only came in the Chevs that year
