Transmission Issues

Has anyone else had a check engine light with the transmission issue? My check engine light has come on 3 times, always communication loss. The first time it put the transmission in limp mode.

Glad to see Im not the only one with the problem. You know its bad when the dealer wont even let you make an appointment to addresss your trans issue because they dont have a fix for it. I think im going to start the lemon law process on my truck. I purchased mine in May 2016 and i wish i has kept my 2014 Sierra 5.3 with the 6 speed. This 8 speed is garbage

I have the 6 speed V6 and it shifts like crap as well. Highway driving, it's fine, stop and go is the worst. I too took it in and got the its "normal" spiel. So annoying, but I love the truck itself. I just wish they would have a fix. They keep pushing customer experience and want to put the customer first...well they need to start listening to us regarding this issue. Everyone has to be upset because it IS a problem.

Well, for awhile there mine was pretty good, but recently has gone back to clunking on certain downshifts, making some sort of rubbing noise when the transmission is lugging the engine in 5th gear on back roads with a 35mph speed limit, it's slight but it's there. Mine is the 6 speed.

It's ridiculous to have such a piss poor transmission in a brand new truck with 9800 miles on it. This is by far the worst shifting auto. Trans in a new vehicle that i have ever owned.

How GM could release a vehicle with a transmission that shifts, clunks, luggs the engine, and just performs poorly overall (although the trailer tow mode is very good) etc is beyond me. Part of its on me though. I noticed on the test drive of two new 15s when i got mine that the trans didn't seem to shift right. Of course the 14 left over F150 i drove shifted great and with the 3.73 gears seemed to have great acceleration (5.0 V8)

I do like my truck, but absolutely hate the transmission and laggy throttle tuning

Hi< I am having the same problem with my truck and camaro both have the 8 speed trans mission. My wife has taken both vehicles back to the dealer and I get different answers every time, I can't take the time off to go to the dealer because its far and would have to take the day off , i work with all the police vehicle here and we are short mechanics. I had my Dodge for 13 years and never had a problem makes you think. Please if you get any results let me know this is very frustrating.

Gil, sorry that I will not be able to help or advise you on this. I got so sick of the runaround from GM that I traded the Silverado in for an F-150. I am vert happy with the truck. I wish you luck!

Nope. as i mentioned in earlier thread the problem is in the software. I spoke with a transmission Tech At my dealership and he told me that they get these transmissions in with same issues every day. They shift that way so you go through all the gears basically from a stop sign to another. They could reprogram it but then is would lower litres per 100klm. Aftermarket tunes from superchips or diablo clean up the shit perameters and the truck runs great. but some fear the program will void warenty if there is an issue. so basically they tell you come in we will do a relearn and drive for a few mor thousand klm. they like to blow smoke up everybodys A**. the service guys are burned out former mechanics that just like to upsale service . they know these transmissions were a flop but they wont admit it. I told a service advisor at the dealership i bought it from about the transmission issues i was having. His response was sorry to here that we normally dont have any problems with these transmissions. REALLY i just spoke with the Trans tech which told me they get dozens aweek in with same issues. i did nt tell the sevice advisor as i did not want to et the Tech in hot water. there all liers.
