Transmission Issues

Not sure if it's the same issue but I have 2k miles on my 16' v6 engine, 6 speed. I notice when I'm braking or coasting down to about 30mph, the RPM will drop to about 1000 and then jump up to 1100. And you can feel the truck kind of shift and jolt forward. More noticeable in stop and go traffic. Didn't notice it when I first bought the truck, but more noticeable now. Bought it back in June so haven't driven it a lot. Anyone else having the same issues?

Just took it in to the dealer for the airbag tensioner recall and told them about the RPM issue. I'm sure they will just come back and say it's "normal."

I have a 5.3 with the 6 speed. Mine does this as well. It is the 5th to 4th downshift. It is most noticeable on mine if I simply let off and let it coast. When I get to 30mph it will downshift and I lose 5 mph very quickly.

It is now a week after the last "update" they did to the transmission and now I have a check engine light again and it is clunking hard on downshift, and decell, shifting poorly on accel. I sent Anthony J from GM a private message as requested by him with all my information. NO reply. Now I get to waste more time and gas taking this truck back to the dealership. I don't know how GM can say this is a normal condition when it throws codes and sets the check engine light. This truck is a huge disappointment.

My 2016 8 speed shifts like total shit from 2nd 1st gear. It's embarrassing. Gm needs to fix this problem

2,600 miles on mine. Trans shifts like crap also. 5.3 and the 8 speed. At highway speeds it's awesome. Stop and go or slow speed the transmission is confused. While crawling in traffic it acts like it is in too high of a gear. Truck rumbles and growls till I give it a little more gas. Many times when coming to a stop the trans. It downshifts real hard and kind of makes the truck lurch forward. After reading all the comments I am going to wait till the first service to complain. From all the reading I've been doing it seems GM is aware of the problem and doesn't have a cure yet. Hopefully nothing in the drivetrain breaks from this issue. Glad it's under warranty. Going to extend it too. Love the truck-hate the trans!!! I've had so many GM trucks with so many problems over the years that I wonder why I am so loyal to the brand? Maybe because my sons Ram is so cheezy, lol?

my truck does the same thing 5.3 with the 6 speed. shifts like crap. only good on the highway. When it down shifts sometimes it bangs down into gear and the truck clunks like crazy. Dealer says its normal and theres no fix but they do have a ton of complaints on the issues

I am now waiting for GM to send their engineer from Atlanta. Not sure what will be resolved. I have told GM I do not want this truck anymore, I hope I can get out of it.

Now GM states it will be the week of 11-14-16 before they can send an engineer. Ridiculous.

I guess this is why Chevy will send the customer satisfaction survey in the first 30 days, before reality sets in and the new owners are more aware of their problems. I had like 500 miles on mine when I got the survey. I gave the truck high marks. Actually I like the truck just disappointed in the tranny.

Ditto for me. I very much want to love this truck (my 3rd GM truck) but the 8 spd trans is just terrible with the awful shifting. Hard downshifts and way too soon upshifts.

edit: It's actually only terrible when not towing or hauling. Hitch a 4000 lb boat on and its very smooth.

Ditto with what everything everyone else says about this transmission. I'm hesitant to bring the truck in till I read that GM has come up with a cure. Just to have the service department tell me it's normal or start tearing things apart when there isn't a cure yet is ridiculous. Sometimes I could kick myself for buying another new GM truck. Shame is I really love this truck except for the transmission. And now GM is going to a 10 speed auto, lol?

I own a company that has about 10 Ford pickups with at least 250,000 miles on them that still run great and most with their original engines and trans!
