What year? Are you referring to the LSA?

Yes I was. I'm new to this, and I didn't know whether it would work on the new DI engines.

Yes, with some modifications, they will work.[/quote

Thank you! I've seen them online new, and didn't know if it was worth the savings I could get to make it work. What modifications are needed? Thank you for your help.

The mods will depend on the one you go with and who you purchase through.

I found out on gmpartsdirect.com. If you were me what unit (magnacharger, whipple, or lsa) would you go with? I know you're pretty highly regarded on here.

We sell all major brand name superchargers (including the LSA blowers). They are all good units, some a bit more plug and play than others. We personally have run both Magnacharger (112, TVS1900, TVS2300), Whipple 2.9 on our personal vehicles.

What is comes down to, is what your wallet can handle, and what your goals are.

It's probably best I just give you a call so you can guide me through this lol. My goals are it's a DD, I like the power of my truck and I just want more. But not enough that I need to start modifying the rest of the drivetrain to keep up. I do tow around 10,000lbs some with this truck (used to be daily but not anymore with this one.) I don't care about the drag strip, or racing the truck.

The GM factory superchargers are too much effort for 0 benefit. Unlike most factory components, you are really getting no reliability increase by using them. There are many people putting 100k plus miles on aftermarket tvs units.

TVS1900 or tvs2300 is probably the best way to go forced induction on these trucks when you factor in everything, especially value. That's coming from a guy who loves turbos.

Thanks! The only reason the LSA blower intrigued me was I could get a complete unit new for just shy of $3700.00. If it wasn't too much more money to make the modifications on it to make it work I thought it might be a good deal. If it's close to the same price I'm probably going to go with the magnacharger.

Turbo all the way!!! On 5 psi it made 440 whp 470 wtq on crappy gas no meth. I had it retuned on 10 psi and it's flat out rediculous. No dyno numbers yet on 10 psi though. I pulled on a 2016 DI Camaro like I was walking in the park.

Towing also is night and day. I've now got more power then the chassis can handle. Recently moved my shop and had a 14' HD 2 post lift, fully loaded 5' tool box, shop tools, engines, air compressor ect on the same load. Pulled it like a diesel.

Would you mind sharing some details?

Did you buy a kit or custom build?

Surprised your fuel mileage is that low. I've turbo'd a few cars and usually get very close to stock mpg. One car was actually better than stock with the turbo.

That's city "miles" with me beating the snot out of it. This truck NEVER gets a break. If I baby it I'm sure 20 or close to it is possible. On the freeway I've seen 21 mpg for about 70 miles.

Truck is bone stock other then the turbo which is a s366. Built everything myself. 60mm wastegate, 50mm bov, 31x14x3 intercooler.

    • Question for you Grumpy, why is diesel so much more than gasoline? Seems to me that it may be slightly a little less refined than gas and it doesn't have 10% alcohol which presumably lowers the price of gas
    • Thanks, so being a different beast altogether, anyone know what the "optimal" temp is for the 10L80/90 for proper shifting?
    • How many years have I pointed out every point in that link to the folks here and been avalanched with criticisms and outright hostilities at times? I ran counter to even the great CUSTOMBOSS and Lake Speed Jr and the half dozen experts on YouTube and in the final.....GM, Physics (Stribeck) backs that Grumpy old Bear.    Honestly, I never said a thing engineering hadn't studied silly and laid in concrete during WWII. But I'm old, the information is old and yet, the Laws of Physics are eternal.    Okay there is one exception. I vehemently disagree with their use of the word 'tolerances' when what it meant is "clearance".   The clearance is the distance between two objects. The tolerance is the degree of acceptable variation permitted in that clearance. I.E., piston to bore clearance is 0.004" with a tolerance of +/- .0002" so the clearance is in specification if it lies between 0.0038" and 0.0042". Cutting that 'tolerance in half has ZERO impact on lubrication requirements. Makes for more difficulty in manufacturing.  But a tighter clearance 'MAY'. Depends on finish. Anyway....   It's one of those statements made by people to make themselves look smarter than they are to convince people who are as un-enlighten as they seem to manipulate their behaviors. But hey, the blind leading the blind puts them both in the pit.
    • Out and about yesterday on a long Saturday drive I passed a lot of Shell stations. My preferred, so I pay attention. Lot's of small town Illinois so not six stations in three blocks like the city.    Everyone of them over a radius of say 100 miles had regular at $4.19 but one which was the one closest to home at $4.15. However Premium pricing varied greatly between 85 cents over regular to $1.50 over. I'm not counting the price of the station with the lowest regular so the reference is the same for the remainder and all within the same brand. However the spread discrepancy holds across all brands.     @txab, any thoughts on that?
    • What are your thoughts? The Chevy Blazer relaunch was an epic case of 'lunchbag letdown'. Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos stick out like a sore thumb.    The AI photos do not look like a 'retro version', but shrunken Tahoes. Get away from the 'futuristic look'. I've seen two concepts. One had rectangular headlight like a Rivian and the other way too big headlights (similar to a previous non-Wrangler SUV) should include dual round headlights like the early version.   If not this would look OK   At least it has GM styling (albeit the K2XX) A lot of the images floating around look like Bronco IIs or the current Bronco. Looking at the Broncos in my area (central Ontario, it seems to be a mix of 2 doors and 4 doors, 'mall rated' to ones that could go offroad.    I'm sure a AT4 and AT4X RPOs could be outfitted similar to a Rubicon if the braintrust understood the whole offroad scene. Crossing my fingers that if it does see the light that the front air dam/bumper doesn't extend below the center line of the tire...
