WTC "ground zero"

Since we've had time to grieve our losses and get back to some degree of normalcy, what should we do with the WTC "Ground Zero" site?

 

I think another World Trade Center should be built in it's place.

 

What do you guys think?

We visited NYC this past June and were fortunate enough to go to the WTC.  We have some wonderful photos from 1000+ feet up, and also some from Liberty State Park and the Statue of Liberty looking at the NYC skyline and the WTC towers.  The property value in Manhattan is far too high to let this area just sit vacant.  My feeling is that a new WTC complex should be built that incorporates a strong memorial.  If we don't rebuild, then I feel that the terrorists will have gained somewhat of a victory.

Agree w/paco (and everyone else).  The land is useful for another(but different) WTC, but I couldn't see anything happening without a memorial.

I say screw the touchy-feely monument.  Build a bigger and better WTC as fast as possible I think that would be the best way to memorialize the victims plus send a message to the rest of the world that the USA is progressive and moving on in the face of adversity!

Agree w/ Paco.  We need to rebuild, but there should be a memorial there as well.  We need to stick it right back in their faces, like someone in an earlier post said, otherwise they can claim some form of victory.

Put another big building up there, not as big as the WTC or designed like it, just something to show that we won't be held back by what happened.

I say screw the touchy-feely monument.  

i think a monument will be important.  it doesn't need to be touchy-feely, we just need a way to remember/respect those who were murdured in the first WTC.  i think building a new WTC with a monument somewhere in it or just outside of it is the best thing to do.

I've been to the WTC more times than I can count.  I had family that worked there for Chase Manhattan.  Fortunately they weren't there on 9-11.  I've got pictures of me standing on the roof observatory, on the 107th floor, I think in the plaza, looking up at both towers, etc, etc.  Anyway, I say rebuild them, rebuild them tall, but build them just under the height of the Sears Tower.  Why?  My local Chicago pride kicks in and I want to keep the "World's Tallest" title here!
