2000 gmc seirra 1500 SLE tipped over

This is my first post on a forum so I am not sure if I am in the right spot but here it goes. Long story short I was driving in a crazy rainstorm and hit a huge puddle. I lost control, did a 180 on the road and hit a curb with just enough side impact to slowly tip my truck onto its side. After getting the new mirror, new rim and wheel, making sure its not hydrolocked and straightening the suspension I find myself unable to start the truck. It cranks hard but no start. I notice the gas gauge shows empty, and the gear indicatior light is not working. I figure there is a saftey switch that cuts power to the pump (and maybe something with the transmission?) but cannot figure how to reset it. Note: it does have fuel and also shifts just no indication. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes, I believe you hit a safety switch of some sort as well when you rolled. I don't know where it would be though. Hopefully someone else does, if not you may need to buy some folks at your dealership or trusted repair facility a 6-pack and pizza and see if they can point you in the right direction.

I don't think there's an actual mechanical switch, like in a lot of Fords. It's part of the PCM, so you'll probably have to have it reprogrammed.

From what i have gathered is that it is an oil pressure switch and that it needs an obd2 to clear the soft code. (even tho there is no check engine or similar light on) Another option is to build oil pressure and wait ten min from what i have read but i have tried that and got nothin so ill let u know what happens when i clear it with the obd2. thanks for the replies.

If it is a OBD issue, you can clear the codes by removing the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes and then reconnecting it.

Listen for the fuel pump to run during the first couple of seconds when you turn the key on without cranking the engine. Pull a spark plug and ensure you are getting fire. Then check fuel pressure to see if it actually getting fuel. It is possible that the fuel pump and or its pick up got damaged in the accident. You can always spray starting fluid to see if it will attempt to fire up.

Check Engine light codes are hard stored into the computer so a battery reset won't fix, but it's worth a try anyway. Usually need a GM Tech II tool to permanently remove the codes.
