Extremely rough ride

Hello guys. My 2016 Silverado has an extremely rough ride. On the freeway the rear bounces up and down like crazy, even my wife notices it and she couldn't notice her car engine being on fire.

Around town I can hear and feel every small imperfection on the road, the entire truck will vibrate bad and sounds horrible. I drive on M5 around town so I know it isn't the AFM. I also have the Chevy shake issue but I think this bothers me worse. My dad checked the ujoint bolts and they were really loose, around 35-40 ft/lbs. We tightened them up to 70.

Taken it to three different dealerships and all they've done is road force balance the tires. Last dealership had it for an hour and called me to pick it up because their "suspension guy" was in training and he didn't want anyone else working on it. I have to take it back next week sometime.

Anyone here have the same issue? Any insight on what it could be? I do frequent 3 hour trips and it's driving me insane.

I'd appreciate any help.

Any kind of lift kit installed?

What kind of tires? P or LT? What are tire pressures set at?

Good questions. No all stock. Tire pressure at 35 per recommendation on door jam sticker.

Not sure what you mean by P or LT.

Tires are the bridgestone duelers.

Are the tires a passenger rated tire or an LT light truck tire. Look at the side of the tire and read the size.

An LT tire will have LT265/70r17 for an example.

A P tire will just be 265/70r17 or P265/70r17

Hmmm I'd have to check. All I know is they are the stock bridgestone duelers that came with the truck on 17" rims.

I would start by taking the service manager for a ride on a route and speed that will demonstrate your rough ride and shake. It is helpful when they agree with you that there is a problem and not perceiving you as having unrealistic expectations. Keep taking it back until they get it riding properly. I would not be "tightening" bolts or attempting other home remedies at this time. Your personal efforts to repair the problem may serve as an excuse for the dealer. It has been my experience that as long as the service writer agrees you have a problem, they will work to get it resolved. If you start adding your help, then it becomes your problem!

Is your truck a z71? Lots of guys hate the Rancho shocks on there.

Nope. It's a double cab, 6 foot bed, 4x2.

I only tightened the ujoint. Don't plan on doing any other thing to it. I had two techs at the dealership ride with me and both agreed on the problem. It's going back next week.

That's what I was thinking. I can't believe how rough they ride.

That has nothing to do with a Z71 package. Z71 is the suspension package. Look at your rear shocks or for a decal on the bed. Z71 has white rancho shocks, non Z71 has black shocks.

Thanks for the information. Just checked. They are all black.

A popular mod is the Bilstein 4600 shocks. 5100 if you go offroad often, 4600 for the street mostly.

They are currently on my Christmas list. Lol.

They are a little stiffer and eliminate the "bounce" while driving.

Will stiffer be a better solution in my case as far as better absorption of street imperfections while driving around town?

I strongly suggest you let "them" fix it before you consider new shocks. I am pretty sure any hope of a dealer solution to your shake will not be free once you start replacing suspension components!

Like I said earlier, I ain't going to change anything else for now. Going to let them try and fix it but I want to know alternative options.
