Clay_Lucas Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I'm looking to do a rebuild of the top end (gasket kit, rebuild heads). Not sure what cam would be the best for a daily driver. Wouldn't mind loosing a few mpg. Going with a diablo trinity and then a custom tune later down the line and a electric fan set up Maybe under drive pulleys I do plan on keeping the stock transmission for now, but I'll be getting it rebuild fairly soon. Not sure what kit would be best, I'd like it to last. I do a bit of towing and hauling. I don't want to do a complete rebuild. Truck still starts and runs great, but is there anything I should change while the heads/intake are off? Any other bolt on that are worth looking at? Truck was handed down to me by my grandfather and I don't plan on ever getting rid of it. 2000 silverado 1500 5.3 250k miles stock rear end, engine and trans with true duels for the exhaust (keeping the stock manifolds for now), no cats. 3.73 ratio 4x4 Any recommendations would be great. Whiteboyz71 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I went with a Stage 1 Comp Cam from Brian Tooley Racing when I had the AFM/DOD delete done. Kept the stock converter and driveability is good. Also have Speedengineering long tube headers and there ORY with cat delete. Truck runs and feels great, I haven't towed anything with it yet, but I feel it's going to do a better job than it did in stock form.
