Dont you just love 'em. I havent had one in a week or so. The last one I had literally put me on the ground because it hurt so much.

That sucks! Aren't those new medications supposed to be pretty good, or are those just for "mild" migraines? There's something my wife has used and that my brother's fiancee uses that is supposed to be great, but I can't remember what it is. If you want me to ask, I will, but it is probably something you are already aware of........

i might know about it.  i have a really good medication that stops the migrane in about 15 minutes, but i have to get it refilled.  the other stuff was a daily medication that reduced my blood pressure, therefore stopping the migranes.  i might try some of that advil migrane or whatever and see if that works

What do you take Paco?  I've had migraines for 15 years (I'm 17) and I've tried almost everything.  Right now I take Fiorcet and sometimes Imitrex, and a blood pressure preventative.

I have never-ending headaches, but I never notice them anymore, unless I hit extreme pain levels, or if someone mentions the word and I think about it.  Mine all has to do with screw up a sinus passage way/wall.  The only way to fix it is to have a nasty and painful surgical procedure, and I ain't doing that so, I just live with it and swallow a bottle of advil when I can feel the pain.  ???

I think it is Imitrex that I was thinking about.

Hey sinny, I had some sinus surgery and it wasn't too bad. They just load you up with good painkillers and that type of thing. We can talk if you want to see if mine was anything like you need to have.

You should check to make sure you don't have chronic sinusitis. I've had migraines since I was 6 and thought I'd just have to suffer with them. I used to take imitrex for my migraines until that stopped working. I was also having a mild headache every day for so long that I started thinking it was normal. My girlfriend (who's also a doctor) bugged me until I decided to see about them. Well, my doctor sent me for a CT scan and it turns out I have very severe sinusitis (sinus disease). After doing some research, I found out that about 50% of migraine sufferers also have chronic sinusitis and that could be triggering the migraines. I have surgery in 2 weeks and I'm hoping that will help with my migraines. You never know.

Interesting point about sinusitis.  I have had migraines off and on for about 20 years now.  Mine follow a certain pattern, starting with an "aura", fuzzy, squiggly patterns running across my vision (kinda hard to describe if you haven't had it). Some people have these, some don't.  I know to pound about 5 ibu's when this comes on, and it usually doesn't go th the full-blown head-banger.

Evidently there is a fairly strong hereditary component with migraines.  Certainly true in my case.  For all you people out there who do suffer these regularly, don't you love it when a non-sufferor makes comments like, "they're just wimps - can't take a headache?!

There are some pretty good medicines out there now, both preventive and stoppers, so get help (my 2 cents).

Sounds like you have classic migraines. I can always tell when I have one because I get blind spots in my vision. I used to have the aura but not so much anymore. With the blind spots, I can look at something and not be able to really see it. That makes for a fun drive home when you can't see the redlights. As soon as my vision clears up, I have a few minutes before the pain starts. I can tell how bad a migraine will be by how long the blind spots last and how bad they are.

Migraines are often hereditary. Almost everyone in my family has them. They can also be triggered by certain foods. My main trigger, though, is bright light. I despise cars with a lot of chrome on them because sunlight glaring off the chrome will almost always trigger one. Headlights at night also do it.

As for people who say stupid remarks about migraines not being that bad, I tell them they better hope they never get one. When I had my first kidney stone, my doctor told me I have a "remarkable ability to tolerate pain". I attribute that to growing up with migraines.

I think you've found paco's problem, the "bling bling" rims he's always looking at

I wouldnt know what a migraine is, but i do have headaches often.

My problem i think is that, in addition to having bad sinus, my neck is almost always stiff and bothering me.

I have to move my head to the left and right, you know how you make your neck pop by stretching it, wheni feel tension in it.

I found that when i have a bad crik in my neck i usually get a headache.

In addition, i cant remember being able to breath out of both nostrils

whats weird is my sinus' seem to come and go with a change in temperature.  Either in a warm house and stepping out in the cold, or just walking into an air conditioned building.

I have been considering sinus surgery forever, but have heard that it doesnt work or makes things worse :)

Im all screwed up :P
