hey guys

I have a 2016 1500 and have an Access lorado roll up tonneau cover on there. where I live in New England winter has come and every morning my tailgate is frozen to the damn tonneau cover. it takes a good deal of pulling and shaking to free it up and I feel like I'm gonna break the tailgate handle while doing it. anybody got a good fix for this? was thinking of putting silicone on the top of the tailgate where the hard plastic is and some on the tonneau cover. anybody have some other ideas? thanks in advance

Yea, that sucks when it freezes. some silicone spray might keep the water out of the joint. My cover has a rubber flap that I can either have up above the tailgate or down between it and the cover. If i put it up, it keeps water out of the gap and is less likely to freeze. does yours do that?

I would try to figure out why its wet every day, giving it moisture to freeze at night. It sounds like you open your tailgate daily, so I would recommend brushing all snow off the cover and around the edges so there's no water to freeze in there.

also, if you are one of those that goes through the car wash regularly in freezing weather, I'd wait until it thaws to do that as well. If you keep giving it moisture to freeze, it will continue to freeze.

good idea with that flap, maybe that will be the ticket. we've been having some rain and snow events here so theres def a reason for it just aggravating as hell when you gotta get something out at 630am and the shit is frozen solid hahah

when parking at night, wipe the seal down , then spray a lite coat of WD-40 . I do that every time I car wash it.

I use silicone tire dressing (Tire Wet, the clear, thick-bodied silicone dressing?) on my cover gaskets and the door rubbers to prevent them from sticking shut...
