Rear bumper upgrade

Well I backed up and tapped a tree the other day. When I got out to make sure the was no damage I couldn't believe I bent the bumper and it pushed into the body of the bed below the tail light. I barely felt the tap and there was that much damage I couldn't believe it.

So has anyone ever replaced theirs with a strong steel one? I would like to find one that won't take away the good looks of the Sierra.

Go to movebumper.com great bumpers for an awesome price. If u know how to weld it would be the best route to go

Their not bumpers, any more just consider them as covers. GM bumpers on their trucks have never been good. I had a 1991 Silverado in 1991 that I twisted the bumper just pulling a 13 ft aluminum boat and trailer.

I did the same thing as you on a 2007 Colorado just bumped a poll covered in a snow pile. Plow had knocked a light poll down then covered it up to hide the fact.

I just bumped it and it dented and twisted.

Interesting, just finished installing this Go Rhino heavy duty rear bumper on my truck.

After much research this one in my opinion looks the best, 3/16" welded plate steel, 1/4" mounts and 1" D shackles. And you get to get bed steps as well...

I haven't set up the spare tire release yet, but looks like it will be a pain if it works right at all.

The OEM license LED's have no where to go but otherwise everything went together perfectly and was precise fit

Barely touchéd mine on a skid of plywood and caved it in. Sounded like a kids cap gun when I pushed it out. These should be named chrome trim strips instead of bumpers!

Do you think it would look weird if I purchased that rear Warn bumper, and had it color matched to my truck but still had the chrome front bumper and grill?

Posted

Yeah I totally agree. I would either order it bare metal, and have it powder coated to match my truck, or buy one powder coated black (if I couldn't order it bare) and have that original powder coating stripped and then powder coated to match.

Ya that sounds logical, I seen some comapnies offer (primer only) when ordering a bumper for painting later... Not sure if you can powder coat to match, but if it is bare metal or just primer, you should definitely be able to paint it to match.

I don't think it would look weird with just the back one done, I only have the back one done for now, and you can't really see both sides of the truck at once to see the mismatch

That Warn looks a bit more thought through than the Go Rhino I have when it comes to the license plate lights and spare tire release... I still think the Go Rhino is more attractive though...

This Warn bumper is pretty sweet.

Are these aftermarket bumper worth it? Do they give you the extra strength you would expect they would?
