06 vortec max

I recently posted I was looking for a 99-02 Silverado and while I still may be, I may have a chance at buying a used 06 Silverado with the vortec max 6.0. It has little to no rust and 80k. How does the mpg compare to the 5.3? Is the nbs 07 vortec max far superior to the 06 vortec max? Is the 06 max noticeably more poweful than 5.3 and what can I do to really wake it up? Any info will be helpful because I think I may go for it if I can get price down

I have that motor in a 2wd with 3.42 gearing. I average about 13 MPG and I spend a lot of time on highways. As for power, looking at about 30 more HP and and TQ. The newer body 07 had a different 6.0 with more HP but less TQ. Also the 07 had 4 wheel discs. Both use the same transmission and the 07 I think had AFM.

Would you say its worth the extra money over a similar 5.3? Is the difference even that noticeable?

I had my engine changed. I also had a 4.8. If I had to do it again, I would have had work done to the 4.8. Also the premium only aspect of the LQ9 at the pump has worn pretty damn thin
