Drive a

Hello my truck fell ill yesterday while I was driving. All of a sudden it felt like I was driving on bumps. I limped it home, went under it I wiggled the drive shaft and it fell to the ground at the back of the truck. Lucky to get home ( thankfully I wasn't hauling the horse trailer). So I pulled off the drive shaft this morning and when preparing to change the u-joint I noticed that the place where you would Insert the locking ring is damaged on both sides where the ring could slip out I think. Do I have to replace the drive shaft or is it fixable?
