Fuel Tank Upgrade

Picked up new Sierra SLT, 6.2 lt, max Tow package with 6.6' box. Filled her up for the first time today and to my surprise she only took 75Lt / 20 gal from empty!!!!. I had asked for a large tank option early in the discussions only to be told it was not an option.... but I expected a 98 lt (26 gal) s per my 2007 and other newer GM's I had been in.

Why would GM think a 75 lt tank would work for true truck buyers/users! Especially with a 6.2 lt and 6.6' box. I'm a extremely disappointed. Does anyone know if there are larger aftermarket gas tanks for these trucks available or if there is even room to put a larger tank by chance. Had I known I'm not convinced I would have purchased although I am a GM guy at heart! I'm in the Toronto Ontario area.

Ford can put a 120 or 135lt tank... why can't GM!

Not in a good place right now

Take a look at this thread as it gives some good feedback on this. I know for me the pump shuts off about 2-3 gallons before it is actually "full" and even earlier after i have been driving awhile and there are a lot of vapors in the tank. I have found that if you fill without the nozzle being completing inserted this allows for a better refueling experience or even if you wait about 30 seconds after the pump shuts off then fill at a slow speed this helps also... but nonetheless check this thread

My previous truck was a 2008 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 4x4 Regular cab long box and had the 35 gallon tank.
My current one is a 2017 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 4x4 Double cab regular 6.6' box.
It says 26 gallons in the book.
Low fuel light comes on at 24 gallon mark.
The dash stops displaying how many miles of range you have left at around 20 miles.
I had run this new one down and drove it into the station and put 27.3 gallons into it .
It was still running yet.
I pull a 29" 5th wheel toy hauler camper with it and get an average of 10 MPG.
That gives me a range of around 200 miles between fuel stops or 3 hours.
I did find another 35 gallon 2013 tank at the salvage yard but have not tried to fit it into the newer 2017 truck yet.
It would be really nice to have that extra range for towing.
I am hoping that it will not take a lot to retrofit it.

Tank is 26 gallons. Fuel light tends to illuminate with 48-55 miles left of range, depending on how your fuel economy is doing. Switches to LOW at 34-42, again depending on fuel economy. The range is extremely accurate, I've been a few miles short, backed off the speed, and made it to my destination with the truck still running.

I think my record for most fuel taken is 28 gallons. At that point I see it in the filler neck XD

I know it's not the best for the evap system. That being said, 145K and counting on the factory evap parts.
