Afe momentum gt question.

Just ordered this CAI for my all terrain and being new to truck mods have a pretty dumb question. 1. First how often do I need to clean this filter. 2. What should I use? 3. Is it worth having an extra one to swap out while waiting for clean one to dry? Actually I don't even know if dry work like oiled type ones I used in my younger atv owning years.

They sell cleaning kits for these. I bought an oiled one, and was told I'd basically be without my truck for the day while it dries. They suggested I buy a second one, but I opted to just do it on a day I don't need my vehicle.

Read the included directions IMO. :happysad:

I read the ones online and nothing in there about this. Maybe printed covers it but it wasn't online

Got it installed and pretty happy. Two questions . First is what differnece does it make in running with plug open vs closed. Any concerns in running open? Also the directions don't say how often to clean only how too. Any help would be appreciated

1. I have the momentum GT and run without the plug - probably breathes better. In a wet climate or you off-road a lot, I would run the plug.

2. Cleaning frequency depends on use and conditions. you can easily go 5~10K miles and be on an early schedule. I wouldn't go more than 20k or a year - that's pushing it to me. If I was in dusty conditions it would be every 5K or oil change. whatever works for you. but they really can handle longer service intervals.

3. For a dry flow usually a product like simple green and warm water, or dish washing soap and warm water from the inside out is good. They do take a long time to dry though. if you have an oiled filter is not much different you just need to lightly oil it when dry. Over oiled filters are really bad and can cause numerous problems with the MAF sensor, including transmission problems/poor shifting.etc..

I found my truck needed the computer reset (unplug the neg battery terminal for a couple of hours) to re-learn the additional airflow (takes about 3~5 tanks for it to learn till mileage come back up throttle response improves a lot).

Overall these intakes are the one to have IMHO.
