stevebutt16 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 just had a brand new set of Lumens 6500lK HID's installed into stock projector housings at an accessory store here in my area. They were installed in the morning so I never really got a great chance to check them out until that night. I noticed the pattern is a little funny. On further investigation it looks like the passenger side is only giving me half of a beam so to speak. when you look on the front of the headlights in the day time with the headlights on you can see a full circle of light on the driver side headlight cover, but on the passenger side it looks more like a half moon of light. What could cause this? I was under the impression that they either work or they don't. could it be a bad bulb, ballast, or is this a headlight housing issue?
cbrsilv15 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Pull the bulb out and reseat it. Make sure that it is sitting flat. Second, take the bulbs out of the light and power them up so you can see if it's a bulb issue or figment issue. If it's a bulb, have it replaced

What could cause this? I was under the impression that they either work or they don't. could it be a bad bulb, ballast, or is this a headlight housing issue? Could be a few different issues. My first guess would be the bulb is not properly seated. The long small tube on the HID bulbs should be pointed down at 6 o'clock. If it is installed correctly then it's likely a ballast issue and you can verify that by swapping the bulbs from side to side to see if the issue follows the bulb. If it follows the bulb then it's not a ballast issue. It it remains on the same side, then it's a ballast issue.
O_J_Simpson Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Swap bulbs and see if the problem moves or stays. Next do the same with the ballasts. Report back to us.
cbrsilv15 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Stock projectors use the h11 bulb. Make sure you have the correct h11 hid bulb.
stevebutt16 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 i adjusted the passenger side a little and its a little better. still unsure what those two big hot spots are above the cutoff though, they are both coming from the passenger side and its annoying seeing them up in the trees.

I read somewhere on here on a sticky that if that spot occurs, rotate the bulb *** the sticky at the top of this page named ( HID / Something) is where i saw that at
