Ebay rim exchange worth it?

I noticed there a a few ebay places where they take in rims, refinish them then sell them to you. You get the rims, put tires on them and ship your old rims back to get you core charge returned.

This has me interested because I can get just the rims I want in the finish i want without having to go the craigslist route.

Has anyone tried these rim exchanges with good luck? How where the quality of the coating on the rims?

I'm looking to swap my 17 inch gm aluminum rims for 18 inch black ones like the midnight edition rims. It would be slightly cheaper than ordering new rims.

Done it locally for my grandmother a few year back. I think 05. She wanted chrome wheels on her Maxima. I think the shop called a place and got a set, did the swap and then shipped hers off for the core. Should work the same, but the core charge is on you.

I would make sure that the rims you get are GM wheels, just refinished since that is what you want to pay for

I think that's awesome that your grandmother wanted to chrome rim her ride.

I ended up ordering a set of new gm rims. The exchange just seemed like too much work.

I bought a remanufacerd wheel for my 2006 silverado few years back. Looked great but after a year or 2 clear coat started to bubble and turn white under it. But was a lot cheaper then a oem wheeel.
