Windshield Wipers

Anyone ever have trouble with windsheild wipers not working? Sometimes (usually when it rains :) ) my windshield wipers take forever to start working. I'll have to mess with the switch for a couple of mintues (it makes a little hum noise when I do this) and then eventually it'll start working. Ironically it only does it when rains (or at least it seems that way). Anyone...Anyone...?

oumike I had a 92 chevy and the wipers started acting up. The problem with mine was a cold solder joint that had to be resoldered. It is easy to do. There is a black cover over the motor that has a couple of screw that you can remove and pull the electronics off the bad joint is usually on one of the 2 big solder joints.

This is a common problem. Go to a GM dealer. They recently added extended warranty coverage on the wiper problem to include almost all model years, but I'm not sure if it goes back as far as 94.

There was an actual recall on them at one time as well, but only for certain years and serial numbers.

I have a 96 and my truck's wipers were not covered under the initial recall, but it was covered under this new extended warranty thing they are offering. (which is really just a different way of calling it a recall.)

Same deal,

Had the wiper module replace 2 weeks ago under warranty on my '96 Yukon.

It was the posts on this website that alerted me to the extended warranty. Top notch work guys.

I had my '99 Silverado inspected last week and needed new wiper blades. The guy thought it was amazing I could see at all with the ones I had. I had to laugh, because I can hardly remember the last time I used them. I'm totally sold on RainX -- that stuff is great. It's probably overpriced, but it works as advertised.
