I broke down and bought the 2017 nav update from GM today for my 2015 Yukon, my husband has the 2015 Silverado with the exact same navigation system. Will I be able to update his with the same USB stick I get for the YUKON? I've seen in older forums where the disc was copied and able to use in other vehicles. I really don't want to by another one, but I don't want to screw his up either. We live in DFW and new streets are constantly added here and need the update.

Please help.

this what the GM website says, YOUR VIN IS REQUIRED:

This map update USB will be created specifically for your vehicle and can not be used for any other vehicle. In order to customize your USB product, you will be required to provide your vehicle's VIN. For instructions on where to locate your vehicle's VIN, please click here. Accuracy is very important when entering your VIN, the update will not work if an incorrect VIN is provided. you could try to load onto your computer, then load onto another thumb drive, no idea if that would work after it has been used and populated with a VIN.

It will not work. The updates don't come on a disc anymore -- they now come on a USB thumb drive and are tied to your VIN. When you plug the thumb drive in it won't even acknowledge the update files if the VIN on the radio does not match the one that was supplied when you ordered the update.

Makes me wonder if you can get in the files on the computer and change the vin or if it's a more complex process.

And yes I know you would have to do some kind of coding or something, but if you're familiar with HTML it might be possible.
