The real issue is what was he doing on his phone? Hopefully, he pulled over and stopped.

Ever heard of Bluetooth? You know, that hands free device you can use to take phone calls.

Sure have. Also heard TODAY about a 71 year old grandfather mowed down at his mailbox by some airhead texting on a phone. You think maybe that's the sort of deal I'm referring to?

No, not at all. Maybe you should re-read the OP's post, he said he took an important call.

And that can't be done while driving?

My point is if he accepted a phone call through his Bluetooth, while driving, he did nothing illegal. Therefore, your pointed comment at having him pulled over and stopped was a bit excessive. Especially considering you contributed nothing to his actual question.

I agree that texting and driving is stupid. For your information, my cousin's husband just got rear ended last week by some dumb kid doing just that. Thank God their 4 month old was not in the Jeep.

I'm pretty sure I just drove 4.5 hours to Philadelphia in 4HI yesterday.  Can't be sure though.  When I left to come back home today I noticed a grinding/binding noise when I took the on ramp onto the interstate and that's when I started looking around and saw it was in 4HI.  I don't think I hit it by accident leaving.  No idea when I engaged it last to be honest so I have no idea how long it's been in 4HI.  I tried shifting in and out of 4WD a few a times and it seems to be working fine.  The trip back home went well and transmission temperature was fine.  Hopefully these trucks are tougher than we may realize....

I drove around with 4WD on in twisty country roads for about 10 miles. Didn't seem to damage anything. I had a bad wheel bearing afterwards but I think that was from off-roading on a rocky trail earlier in the day (the reason I was in 4WD in the first place). I replaced the transfer case fluid and both differentials' fluid after for some peace of mind.
