Who's running E15

Been running a 50/50 mix of E85 and premium in my 02 for over a year now with no issues.

I like the fact it burns cleaner and keeps the combustion chamber clean. Not to mention the higher octane.

My daughter runs E15 in her 2012 Cruze which isn't flex fuel and it runs fine.

I just fueled up with E30 in my 2007 Chevy Silverado 4x4 and got 17 mpg.  Very impressed and ran great!  The cost was $2.51 vs $2.69 for E10 here in SDakota.

Do you need to have a flex fuel engine to run E-15 or will the standard injectors work? My internet searching led me nowhere.

any vehicle 2004 and newer can run E15

at least thats what it says on the pumps by me.

I've used e30 90% of the time for the last 25,000 miles on my 2016 5.3 (non-flex fuel).  The other 10% was e10 when I'm not near a station with a blender pump.  Truck runs great.  Torque app shows timing is significantly advanced running e30 vs. e10.

I would have to run a couple thousand miles on e10 to make a firm conclusions, but I have not seen any loss in mpg.  Over the last year e30 has averaged about 40 cents a gallon less than e10 here, or about 16%.  If the mileage really is the same on e10 and e30, I'm saving about $500 a year running e30.

I've seen people talk about ethanol having less energy than standard gas, but many don't do the math correctly.  You need to understand it's only 5% more ethanol, so even assuming 50% less energy density (if that were the only factor), would still be cost effective at 2.5% lower cost than standard E10 top tier gas.  It was designed for newer vehicles (flex and non-FF) so if you save 7-10 cents a gallon (as prices are now), it should work out to be a savings in the long run.  Not sure I'd take the leap to E30 in a non-FF yet, though, without some more backing.

With my last car, the FF version could get quite a bit more HP/TQ out of it with the E85 tune, but at less mileage (on the track, who cares).  I think it ended up being a wash with mileage when running it as a daily driver, but on the track it was more powerful.  Also, it had less fouling since it was also a direct injection motor.

I see people get pretty passionate about E85 and similar ethanol fuels being "the devil's drink", but I haven't seen much to back it up when it comes to newer vehicles.  With lawn mowers and motorcycles, don't go with ethanol in any amount, but cars have been regulated to deal with it for years.

Well, my last post on this was a year ago.  Since last December, my 2500 has been on E85 exclusively.  The price spreads are such that even with the lower mpg, the cost per mile is still lower than using anything else. This happened back when we got that $4 a gallon for E10  several years ago. My 2013 1500 lived on E85 or well over a year.  Due to the price fluctuations that have gone on over the last decade, I will not buy any gas vehicle that is not flex fuel capable.    The price spread has to be more than 70 cents to make it worthwhile, but when the spread is there, it is sure nice to have the option of using E85.   For the last 6 months, the price spread has been 70 cents to $1 a gallon lower for E85 than E10 regular.
