Back spacing?

Recommended Posts

Hello, Im new here and also relatively new to trucks. I purchased my first truck about 10 months ago knowing I would lift it and put wheels and tires on it. I have decided on going with a 6" BDS kit, with 35s. After contacting BDS about their recommended wheel and tire sizes for my truck with previously stated setup they recommended (35" x 12.50" w/20 x 9 and 5.75" of back spacing) the wheels that I found and really like have 4.56" of back spacing. So my question is how big of a difference/effect is this? Thanks in advance for any comments and advice.

You will stick out an inch or so further. That spec they call for may be just a maximum limit (how close the wheel/tire can be without rubbing on any suspension components) and or the best compromise to keep stress down on the suspension. So with a 4.56" backspace you will have tire further from the suspension. Keep that in mind as you may encounter valance rub as a result. Offset for their recommendation is +18mm, the wheels you are looking at are probably -10 to -12 offset.
