jetts737 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Hey all, Sorry if I am posting in the wrong location! I have an extremely annoying rattle coming from what I think is the dash in my 07 Classic. I have a video of what it sounds like, any help at all is appreciated! Here's the video
jusbecuz Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Video doesn't help me, but I had a dash rattle and it was the drivers side corner by the windshield. You could press on it and hear it click. I wedged something in there and it stopped.
Formulabruce Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Mine does it, and its the steering column. The rebuilt or new part is all over Ebay and it can be installed at home with a few tools and an hour or so.
jetts737 Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Thanks very much for the responses, it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side corner by the windshield. Do think it could be the intermediate steering shaft.
kstruckcountry Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 I had the ISS rattle in my 2006, and fixed it with the "upgraded" steering shaft. Pretty easy job. You could take off the lower dash panel and see if that changes the sound. Your video sounds like mine did. However, there is another rattle now, that I "feel" more than hear. I can feel it on expansion joints and such through the wheel. No idea on this one. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
jetts737 Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Sorry to hear you have another rattle to deal with, nothing more annoying when driving. Definitely think I need to replace the intermediate shaft just to check that off the list. Thanks for the input!
kstruckcountry Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 I just remembered, here is a writeup I did a while ago... The bolt locations and torques should be the same. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/176434-how-to-fix-your-gmt800-steering-shaft-clunk/ Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
