So i have a 2015 Silverado LT Crew Cab, yesterday truck worked and drove fine.. up until the late afternoon when we got in the truck and turned it on, it was weird.. the radio was on, but adjusting the volumn up or down, still couldnt hear the sound. Then i noticed that the clicking from the turn signal couldnt be heard either.. that was weird.. got home, parked, turn off and on the truck, still same results, but truck started fine.. no struggle or indiciation of potential issues..

Come out this morning and wouldnt turn on, barely clicked when turning the key, when i attempted to start and leave the key in the on position, there are 2 messages on the dash..

"Service - Theft Deterrent System"

"Service - Engine Power is reduced"

when i checked with the scan tool i got back 2 faults,, both showed up as

N/A - 01/02

N/A - 02/02

I was able to jump start the truck, but the 2 messaged still appeared and the CEL was on as well as the little lock icon. While idle in the driveway you could tell that it wasnt running at full power, if that makes sense, it was NOT idling rough, but was lacking power.. battery showed 14+ on the needle, but if i turned it off and on, wouldnt start back up unless i jumped it again..

I did not want to attempt to drive it to the dealership in this condition

I am taking it to the dealership after work today, but wanted to get idea of what it could possibly be?

Only mods i have on the truck are the throttle control harness and a Offroad LED bar

I have since pulled the fuse for the LED bar and the throttle control is still connected..

I may remove before taking to dealership so they cant refuse service, but could i have done anything to cause this? or just something else.

only have 24k miles, so better still be under warranty, just looking for idea of what it could be..

bad battery already? bought it new 2 years ago and only has about 24k miles..

If it is the battery, could my LED bar have cause issues, i mean i havent used the light since i installed it, and the fuse is pulled for it.. It is connected directly to the battery posts, if that matters. but not used or turned on.

I just noticed i forgot to post in the original post above, that we did receive a onstar email that says it detected a critical issue with the engine and transmission system.

I can do that when i get home, but wouldnt that just tell me how many volts it has currently since i cant start it without jumping the truck?

By the time i get home i have about 2hrs before the dealership service center closes.. so id like to check and make sure of things before i take it and have an idea of what to expect from them. I dont want to give them any reason to say its my fault if its not..

Fully charged battery = 12.5 volts. :happysad:

thanks, i check once i get home.. if i check it before jump starting and reads less than 12.5v, that isnt 100% battery issue right.. i mean it could just be lower because of the few attempts to start it this morning..

Remove battery or drive to auto store for free battery test. :happysad:

So, if its the battery, what brand should i consider.. i was looking at the 3 auto parts locations near me and only 2 of the 3 sites are working, but none seems to carry the optima battery..

If im going to have to spend $219 for a new battery, rather go ahead and get a better than factory battery..

Suggestions...

Local parts locations are

Oreillys

Autozone

Advanced Auto Parts

NAPA

So wife logged into our chevy online account and found that the error reported this morning by the truck was the following:

There is sensor reference voltage volt malfunction. An engine monitoring sensor is reading incorrectly.

Just wanted to provide an update after yesterdays ordeal..

Got home, jumped the truck and let it idle for as long as i was outside.. checked the battery with volt meter.. read about 14.xx volts.. which is about what it reads inside on the dash.

After a amount of time, wasnt aware i needed to time, but heard a ding and saw on the dash the following message..

Action Required Battery Low Start Vehicle.

I tried and couldnt, so just turned it off..

Was able to finally pull a legit code off and it was

P0697 Sensor Reference Voltage C Circuit Open

So by this time, i called the chevy roadside number and had them pick it up and tow to the dealership yesterday, waiting to hear back from them today on what they found.

When i drove by this morning, i saw it in the service lane with the hood up, so im sure they were trying to get it started..

Well, dealership called and stated it was the Battery, they called my wife instead of me, but ill try to get more from them on the CEL code that was reported..

Could a P0697 Sensor Reference Voltage C Circuit Open error be as simple as a bad battery?

Autozone and Oriellys carries Optima batteries. In my wifes truck we put a Duralst AGM and seems to be doing fine in the Texas heat. It has 3 year warranty and easy to find an autozone if we have a problem. I got batteries from Batteries Plus. The X2 brand which is made by North Star. Batteries Plus offers a 5 year replacement warranty on my main battery and a 4 year on my auxiliary battery because its a marine dual purpose. Odyssey batteries are also very good.

Could have had both of ours replaced under warranty but didnt want to take a chance on delco batteries, they 1seem to be a gamble on how long they last.

So far this hasnt cost me a dime, all covered under warranty, so ill let it ride until i need another one..

For the cost of the new battery though i was looking at the Optima and Bosch one and was ready to buy one and not even bother with the dealership

Finally spoke to the service dept and alternator and electrical system passed all test, battery failed load test, replaced battery and reset codes and said should be ready to go..

We will see how that goes..

Now to finish my LED light bars install and not cause any issues..
