Tailgate not slow opening anymore?

Noticed a plastic bushing that was cracked and missing a section on my passenger side tailgate hinge. I do not abuse my tailgate ever, just normal opening and closing like anybody would.

Went to the dealership and got the bushing, soft open works much better now.

Right at the hinge where you would go to remove the tailgate, there sould be a black plastic bushing. Took all of 60 seconds to remove the old one and install a new one.

Curious how long did it last? I still don't trust it.

Happened to notice a black piece of plastic in my driveway around 30k miles, did notice the broken piece until 35k.

Didn't notice anything different with tailgate operation, would not have known had I noticed the broken piece

mine was fixed and a few months later it is now openings too fast again, going to have them fix again at next oil change

Just bought my certified 2014 Silverado CC High Country last week with nearly 47K miles. When I got it home from the dealership, I noticed the tailgate dropped with a big thud. After having a 2015 Colorado, I knew it should have the same soft opening feature, so I stopped by the dealership this afternoon to see about getting it repaired. At first, the service rep told me the rubber bushing was probably not covered under the 12 month/12,000 mile certified warranty. I told them it was one of the selling features of the truck and stood my ground; and, after a couple of phone calls, she agreed it should be covered under the certified warranty. It's going in Friday for repair.

The level of difficulty on this repair is on par with filling the windshield wiper fluid. Personally i would just buy the part and throw it in. Save all the hassle

I just ordered my replacement... When I get it in, I'm going to machine one out of a tougher material I'll keep you guys posted on my progress

But for the cost it might just be easier to keep a spare and call it done

I'll see when it arrives
