constant dinging for service reminder

My vehicle is located in my signature, but Every once in awhile, I get a loud dinging and warning on my computer display that says "service trailer brake system". It will come back every once in awhile reminding me to have it serviced.

 

I might haul a trailer once a year of not two years. So for the most part I don't use it. Is there a way I can reset that myself? I really don't want to take it to the dealer, and pay for something I don't use.

 

What exactly is needing serviced when that pops up? And yes, I know its the trailer brake system. but what and why?
