READING ENGINE HOUR METER

Can someone please tell me where I can find the engine hour meter on a 2000 GMC Sierra. Brother in-law is looking to buy a truck and I wanted to check the engine hour meeter for him and find out if the miles are higway miles or Town miles.....

Also is there a web page to enter the data.....

With truck off and without the key in....Press and hold the trip meter button for at least 5 seconds.

It should display the hours.

That is the coolest thing I've ever seen. I didnt believe it when I read it, but what do you know, it works! Awesome! My 01 only has 278.1. Not bad for an 01. Thats an average of 28 miles per hour. I guess you cant drive fast in Hawaii. Thats where the truck came from.

Don't mean to sound like a smart a$$ or anything, but if you guys would have read your owner's manual, you would have known your trucks had hourmeters. Guess that's why they made them easier to find in the '03s.

I'll bet if you read your owner's manual, you will learn at least ONE new thing you didn't know about your truck. I thought I knew it all until I did.
