Aftermarket Vehicle Alarm/Anti-Theft

Hey guys, 

 

Been a while since I've been on the site. Been busy with work and all kinds of other things. Moved into town and truck has been broken into 3 times this year. Once at a location for work and other two have been at my house. I live in a townhouse and truck doesn't fit in my garage and only thing left is street parking. Whole bunch of people have been parking in our spots so until my landlord gets this situation fixed, its potluck where I park everynight. This leads to my question. Only thing I've ever heard of as far as aftermarket alarms go is Viper. Are they worth the money, are there other options out there that are promising? I'm tired of my truck being broken into and they are good about not triggering the alarm. Factory alarm is a joke so if I can get something aftermarket that at least makes noise or something more than factory, then maybe it'll deter people.

 

Anybody have any thoughts or experience with aftermarket systems or even interior cameras or anything that can help deter people?

May want to look into a Viper 5706V alarm.   That is the one with a 2 way responder remote that will advise you if alarm was triggered.   Optional extras to consider would be a glass break sensor, tilt sensor (if the try to lift or tow it away), and a backup siren.  Alarm itself only comes with a shock sensor and remote start features.  Take care of the remotes as they are quite pricey.  Have an authorized retail shop install it and register it with Directed Electronics.  

Otherwise consider sleeping inside the truck with an AR15 or leave a Rottweiler, Doberman or similar inside instead.

Depends on how much you want to spend. There's a company here in Dallas called earmark that specializes in aftermarket alarms and stereos. They do good work, but it'll cost ya
