Front End Pop

I just bought a 99 GMC Sierra, and this week I noticed that when I am backing up and I turn the wheel hard right, I get a clicking or popping noise up front. Has anyone else experienced this or maybe have an idea what it might be?

Thanks

I have a 2wd 2000 Yukon that does the exact same thing and has been doing it for a while; the noise comes from the front right of the vehicle... any ideas what it could be?

I've heard that it is in the steering shaft. I think all you need to do is lube it up some how. There is a TSB on it, you should be able to to a search to find the specifics.

yeah, I did the steering shaft lube on mine in Jan. It took care of most of the popping, but I guess this one came back (does it in reverse when I cut the wheel to the left). I guess i need to buy another lube kit and re-lube. Thi time, i'm keeping the syringe so I can re-use it. It's just wheel bearing grease anyway, i think.

Ive had this happen on all of my cars- el camino, s-10, and silverado hd. From my experiences its more of a clanking sound and it also happens when you hit bumps and stuff. Have someone turn your whell back and forth and check the bolts.
