I randomly saw in a forum post that a guy in Okc wanted to trade his black window trim and door handles for chrome. He came to my house and we had it all swapped out in about a hour. Went smoothly due to some good videos on youtube.

I love the new look. I would have preferred painted door handles but the black ones look good on the iridium trucks. Now to find mirror caps and get some black steps.

I also started debadging the doors and z71 emblems.

Heat gun and fishing line

Rubber eraser wheel on a drill and adhesive remover:

The z71 emblems left some scratches that I had to remove with rubbing compound.

Next is to install my new z71 emblems

Looking good Seth! Gotta love working on your truck yourself accomplishing mods.

What model was the Chevy, 67 or 68? Front end is a 67 and bed is a 68. I had a 67 that was my first truck for 12 years till I had to sell it. Cried the day I sold it, and whenever I stop to think about her.

Thanks Mike! It was a 67 C20 with a 68 bed. You have a good eye. I never really got the story of why it had a 68 bed but figured it might have had a flat bed on it at some point. I miss the truck too but I like having a truck that I can put my kids in and that can go highway speeds. Looks like your 67 was a short step side?

Now complete the job and remove that chrome bodyside molding, and get black steps.   The All Terrain wheels will fit right in.

I would love to find some paint matched bodyside molding but I think I will end up just removing them for now. I'm on the lookout for some good black steps.

I have some rigid pod lights that I think I will eventually put behind my grille.

I replaced the silver bolts on the face of the lights with black anodized aluminum screws.

Yes, it was a step-side, short bed. And I know what you mean needing a truck that can run on the interstate and stay up with traffic, not to mention room for the family. I would love to have my C10 now and install the 5.3 and 6sp in it. It would be awesome.

Got the new Z71 emblems on the doors. These are from the special edition Silverados. GM part number 23465290.

I measure where my Sierra emblems were on my doors and tried to place these in the same spots.

I also put on my silicone key fob cover that I got from Amazon.

How hard was I️t to debadge the tailgate and did you end up with any ghosting?

Seriously considering doing this to mine as the “Silverado” and “LTZ” is the last of my remaining chrome...

It wasn't too bad on the tailgate. I used a heat gun and fishing line. Then I used a rubber eraser wheel on my drill. Then I used adhesive remover. Then I buffed it out with rubbing compound and my buffer.

I didn't see any ghosting on the tailgate. The z71 emblems on the front quarter panel have some slight ghosting. They get a little more sun.

I bought a painted front bumper for $150 from a local guy. It's scratched up from being in the bed of his truck after he removed it. I'm going to buff it and try some touch up paint and see how it looks. I also have to drill holes for my front parking sensors.

I took the front license plate bracket/cover off the painted bumper and put it on my chrome bumper until I swap them. So much cleaner looking now.
