Upgrading I03 radio

I'm really wanting to Upgrade my 2014 w/t 4" Screen to Something aftermarket most likely a 9" , I've done some research and I see i need to Get a hold of a I04 module. Can anyone help guide me in the right direction!

I also have the steaming turd GM calls the “IO3” radio. My research so far has shown there is not much help for us in upgrading without a high price. I’m considering aftermarket simply because there are more options for less money. I purchased a IOB radio hoping for an easy install, only to find the connections are completely different. So far, no one has a patch cable for a swap.

I’m an IPhone user so I’m looking at units that are apple car play capable. Narrowed to a JVC and Pioneer units.

Yeah I'm an android user, I have a question . If we go that route with aftermarket , we won't be able to use the Bluetooth, or nav features huh ? Since our trucks factory radio doesn't have it ?

As long as the radio you choose has those features, you will absolutely have Bluetooth and Nav. You can also get steering wheel controls our trucks don’t have now also.

I wonder why I was under the impression that since our radios didn't come with Nav and Bluetooth we wouldn't be able to take advantage of those features. I thought we had to Upgrade to I04 or 5. So if I go aftermarket I can get any head unit with Bluetooth and nav and it will work ? I don't need a I04 , I just seen people talking about getting I04 but wasn't sure why lol.

The reason they are going IO4 is to keep it stock. GM runs the door chimes through the stereo, so you have to buy a kit for that. Also, the way the stock units are mounted, you have to cut away a portion of the internal dash for a double din radio to install. I also wanted to stay stock, however as the harness is different and you will also need to have the PCM flashed for a new “stock” radio, the aftermarket looks better and better.
