I'm amazed how popular the F 150 Eco Boost is - I would have never guessed the average truck buyer would want that ... (maybe those buyers are just SUV buyers that decided that a truck with somewhat good mileage and a much better image being a truck - makes the grade (?) ) I read the Eco Boost unit has a life span of 150,000 then to be replaced as general maintenance - not sure how true that is

I replaced my 08 2500 6.0 truck with a 2013 ecoboost for the summer. It did tow my 6k trailer well but would get hot (135 degrees) on hills and the temo gauge in the dash never moved. Only way I knew was while watching a scan tool. Did some research and ford programs a deadspot from 200-240 degrees in the middle of the gauge. Also the oil gauge is just a switch, if it sees at least 7 psi the gauge goes to middle and thats all. Little things like that turned me off to the truck and traded it in to my current 2015 2500 6.0 truck. IMO the f150 is great for someone who doesn't care what the truck is doing and push it to its limits. In the 3 months I had it I had to replace the engine driven vacuum pump, wastegate actuator, and a blend door motor and caused me to cancel a trip beauce of breakdowns.
