Well here's the first clue that this article is full of poop:

"Estimated payload is around 14,500 lbs, which is close to current vehicle."

Good luck loading 14.5k in the back of a Class 2 or Class 3 pickup.

Good catch cire!  Yes semantics do matter, that kind of PAYLOAD was at the upper limits of the old 2 ton medium duty trucks.

I would say they're confusing payload with tow capacity.

300hp and 330lbs/ft?????  And people think that the 6.0 is gutless.  I really doubt GM would put something in the 2500 series with less power than the existing 6.0. Especially when the all the competition has supposedly more power than the 6.0 as it is.  I seriously doubt GM would risk their share of the fleet sales on a v6 powered 2500hd.  But who knows.

Yes maybe, but I think the point  cire was trying to make is either the author of the article doesn't know jackshyt or proofreading is not in their wheelhouse, so maybe the author should move on to political reporting where that's more the norm.

Fuel mileage is not overly important in the 2500/3500 as they are not part of the CAFE standards.

It's a junk article that made me laugh is all. This would never happen

There are a couple of bogus automotive websites that post these types of speculative articles.  The grammatical errors lead me to believe they may originate in China, but who knows.  Sometimes they do get a story right, but this one isn't.

Anyway, there very well could be replacement for the L96 6.0L coming, perhaps as early as late 2019 for the 2020 MY.  Ford is working on a 7.0L+ gas V-8, and I wouldn't be surprised if GM is thinking along those lines as well.
