'93 S-10 outpulls Ford F-350

Posting this story here because it involved my '93 S-10 Blazer that I had. It happened a couple years back and I posted this on a boating board I participated in and those guys had a flame fest. Wouldn't believe it. Anyway....

 

One fine late summer day we had been boating on Muskegon Lake in Muskegon, MI. Came in to the Grand Trunk ramp to retrieve our boat. I back down and start loading up. In the lane right next to us a brand new F-350 4x4 with dualies and Powerstroke diesel is backing down to launch his cigarette hull speedboat. I stopped what I was doing to admire the truck for a moment, then got back to work winching my boat onto the trailer.

 

All done, time to leave. I put my Blazer in 4-hi because the ramp is full of green slimy stuff. Drop it into gear and drive up the ramp to the spot where I can put all the tie downs on the boat. About the same time Mr. F-350 is done launching and gets ready to go park his rig. Only he just sat there and spun the rear tires til they smoked. Hmmm F-350 with empty trailer - goes nowhere on green slimy stuff. S-10 Blazer with 2500lbs of boat goes right up the ramp with no slippage at all.

 

We had quite a chuckle about that one. We suspected Mr. F-350 forgot to drop his truck into 4-hi or he was too new to boating to realize that the green stuff is slippery and one needs 4 wheel drive to get up a ramp covered in it.

The 2500 pounds of boat probably helped the Blazer, not to mention the fact that it has more weight on the tires than a truck. I would not call it out pulling, much more like out gripping.

I can live with outgripping. It was still pretty funny. Big monster truck sitting there doing nothing. Little teeny truck just doing the job.
