Should be able to run them on the rear, no? I understand the clearance issue in the front...but the rear is wide open?

I would just go with a winter snow tire and if going to drive on ice alot go with studded. I can say I have never used chains and not sure when I would have ever needed to.

Ugh..... I bought a 2014 half ton Silverado z71 and on a recent elk hunt learned this the hard way. I run 20inch tires with a leveling kit and was able to chain up the back and when I tried to wrap up the front it was clearly visible that I was gonna do some hands free body work so I used my better judgement and went without in the front. Anyone have any experience with those glacier cables? Where I go elk hunt you really gotta be chained up on all 4. Had I known this when I bought the truck I would have gone a different direction. But I love my Chevy and I know for a fact that you can fit 3 cow elk in the back
