Update 2015 Silverado 1500 Radio for CarPlay

Anyone know what is involved in updating a 2015 8” radio to be CarPlay compatable? I think they added it in the 2016 models. I am hoping it is software?

Try the search function -- there are already a bunch of threads about this.

 

Basically you can't do it from the factory but there are a few guys on here who can sell you the newer-year HMI programmed to work in your truck.  Check for MVI or Chris White (white auto media).

Depending on when your 2016 was built the dealer may be able to add it.  It was available on later-build 2016's since some of those got the new HMI (the early builds did not).
